antigona vs. duffle
When it comes to shopping designer items, you will never reach satisfaction. Let's talk about bag cravings that never stop!
When I bought my first designer bag, from Belgian designer Michael Vanderheyden I was really happy. My first investment in a solid leather bag, that feeling of luxury was overwhelming. I carried it everywhere and when people asked, I smiled :)
Shortly after, my next craving popped up. Dutch designer Ellen Truijen caught my eyes, known for her simple and pure designs. I have tried the '48hrs revival', 'the belly', 'tiny tom' and the best wallet I ever owned 'pac your money'. When it come to simple, beautiful quality bags she has wonderful pieces you will love.
I am not done yet, because Céline caught my attention. Doubts that kept my mind on the safe side of spending. First of all, I already own that many precious pieces, so why get another bag? Second, repeating the 'why should I spend that crazy amount of money on another designer bag'-question in my head. Thirdly, why is there a hunger for more?
If I strolled trough my hometown Maastricht I always peeked at the windows of designer boutique Kiki Niesten to see if they would have a black trapeze. In December 2013 the moment was right. I told myself I deserved it. I worked my ass off that year, running my own business combined with a 4-days a week job and spending all my free time in living a healthy and fit life. I gave in and convinced myself to buy the Cline black zipped trapeze. Beware, you will always find another excuse! That moment when I swiped my card, the blood rushed through my veins of excitement, happiness and shame. Ashamed of the amount of money I spent on more arm candy..
Not even seven months later, I long for more, the Givenchy mini Antigona or will it be the classic Saint Laurent Duffle 3? Sigh..

'breaking-in-my-first-raw-denim' experiment
My brother in law infected my husband with the raw denim virus. After some years, a couple of visits to different stores specialised in denim, many accompanied buys of my husband, washing moments, etc. it is time for me to experience the dry experience.
I bought my first selvedge, the 'petit new standard' by A.P.C. at Tenue de Nimes in Amsterdam. The petit new standard is a unisex model. According to my husbie it's a 'heavy' one (exactly 14,50 oz) for a first try. I usually wear a 26 in my Tiger of Sweden Kelly or a 25 in Levi's high-rise. But I recommend sizing up for this model. With 100% cotton this very stiff Japanese raw denim will wear in over time. Let's see how that will work out for me!
If you are new to the 'dry', 'selvedge' and 'raw' terms, read the essential raw denim breakdown article.
I've decided to keep a journal about the 'breaking-in-my-first-raw-denim' experiment. Keep you posted!
